Skip Bin Hire Guidelines

The quickest and easiest way to find out which is best for your situation is to contact one of our friendly staff members on our freecall 1800 626 388.

Asbestos – Never put asbestos containing material in with other waste types.  It will contaminate the load and be extremely expensive to dispose of.

Mattresses – are very difficult to recycle, they attract a large surcharge per mattress.  This becomes quite expensive if you have an ensemble as each is considered a mattress.  There are a number of ways to save on removal costs: some councils may pick up for free, sell or give it away. Try eBay or Gumtree. Finally you may dismantle or shred it yourself.

Liquid paint – attracts a charge based on the size of the tin.  Make sure you empty the paint into other paint tins to fill them.  This reduces the number of tins you will be charged for.  If you have a 4 litre can of paint, the tip will charge you for 4 litres even if there is only 1 litre in it.

Chemicals – most local councils have a free chemical collection depot for residents.  Contact your local council for more details. Please fill to the rim only to prevent spillage whilst being transported. This is very important as it is illegal to transport overloaded bins and your bin cannot be collected if overfilled    We usually allow for 1 week hire as we find this is enough time for most clean ups. If you require the bin for longer just let us know. Or, if you have filled the bin earlier, just call us and we will come and collect it.

Please fill to the rim only to prevent spillage whilst being transported. This is very important as it is illegal to transport overloaded bins and your bin cannot be collected if overfilled.  Bin hire is generally 1 week hire as we find this is enough time for most clean ups. If you require the bin for longer just let us know. Or, if you have filled the bin earlier, just call us and we will come and collect it.  We can deliver your skip bin the day after you order. For orders before 10am, we can deliver a skip bin the same day.  When you make your booking we will ask for your credit card over the phone for payment. We also accept cash payments to the driver upon delivery. Account applications are available for builders.

Skip Bin Placement

As a general rule, the skip bin needs to be placed on private property. This includes most driveways if they are within the boundaries of your property. Your driveway needs to be at least 3 metres wide for a standard truck to fit into the driveway. You should also ensure there are no power lines or trees that may hinder the access and placement of the bin at time of delivery. If you think that access may be difficult, feel free to discuss the location of the skip bin with us as we have smaller trucks available for more difficult access.

Please note that if you need us to place the bin off your property, such as on a footpath or nature strip, you will need to check with your local council as you may require a permit. We are a registered preferred bin supplier in the following councils – North Sydney, Inner West, Hornsby, Woollahra, Waverley and Northern Beaches.

See Council Permits.

The most common size skip bins for a household clean up are 2m3 to 6m3. For a large clean up or renovation, 8m3 and 10m3 bins are more suitable.
